My husband climbed into bed and asked me, “What’s bothering you, Honey?” Tears dripped down the sides of my face as I lay there trying to explain. Pulled in so many directions during the day, needing to “be” for all the people in my life, I was drained.

“I feel….invisible.”  It’s all I could come up with.

Now, my love has this endearing habit of finding a new song that he likes and then making sure the entire family knows it by heart by playing it over and over again. So, that night he quoted his newest song, Skillet’s “Stars”, which speaks of how if God puts every star in the sky, then He knows my name, He knows my heart. “You’re not invisible. He sees you”, he whispered to me.

The next morning, I woke up with that song on my lips, but still struggling with weariness. As I waited for my coffee I opened up Facebook, generally not a good first thing in the morning idea, but that morning it was. The very first thing on my feed was a Proverbs 31 devotional with a title that made any doubt that God was speaking to me, disappear….

When You Feel Invisible

After I shared this with my RGT Mom’s group, one of the ladies said, “It’s like God was like….’Yeah, I’m talking to YOU, GIRL!”

The author quoted Isaiah 40:26. The beginning part of the verse says,

“Lift up your eyes on high and see! Who has created these? He who brings out their host by number and calls them all by name; through the greatness of His might and because He is strong in power, not one is missing or lacks anything.”

He sees us, He knows us and our hearts. If He numbers the stars and calls them all by name, how much more does He know and see you, His daughter?  The validation, the belonging, the sense of being seen…all of that can come from nothing, but Him.
